Meeting God in John - a Lent course for 2026

Our Lent book for 2026 is Meeting God in John: A Companion for Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Beyond by David F. Ford. Perfect reading for the season of Lent, and a brilliant spiritual resource for any other time of the year, this introduction to John's Gospel is full of inspiration and encouragement for today. Two courses starting in February will be available - Thursday mornings in the Gallery at St Peter's Church (9:30 - 10:45 am) starting on 19th February; and Sunday evenings online (7:15 - 8:45 pm) starting on 22nd February.


Chris Clayton's Farewell Lunch and Leaving Gift

New Year! New You? Welcome to the table!

Starting this week on 15th January 2026 classes are being held for those who wish to explore their faith with others who are also thinking about baptism or confirmation.


New logo created to celebrate St Peter's 150th Anniversary

By the 1860s the needs of the growing population and the increasing number of visitors to Harrogate meant that a new church was needed. The main architect for the new church was J H Hirst of Bristol, who was also responsible for many of the buildings in Harrogate town centre. In October 1876 the new Church of St Peter's was consecrated, with Canon Lundy Foote as the first vicar.


The Revd Chris Clayton to be the next Vicar of Horsforth

Our Associate Vicar, Chris Clayton, will be leaving St Peter's Church in the New Year. Chris' final Sunday at St Peter's will be 18th January.2026.


Change of day for mini-supermarket

Our weekly mini-supermarket is usually on Thursdays - an opportunity to stock up on tinned, preserved and dried food and toiletries. During Christmas Week our mini-supermarket will be on Tuesday 23rd December from 4:20 – 4:40 pm; the following week it will be on Tuesday 30th December from 4:20 - 4:40 pm.


A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

Join us for our traditional service of A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at St Peter’s next Sunday 21st December, at 6:30 pm.


Handel's Messiah performance at St Peter's Church

Friday 19th December at 7:15 pm with the choirs of St Peter's and St Wilfrid's Churches, Harrogate Voices, Harrogate Handel Players and soloists. Tickets £18 from Eventbrite, St Peter's Parish Office (07425 161 425), or on the door.


Come to the Christmas Fayre Shoppers' Carols

Two services will be held on Saturday 6th December and again on Saturday 13th December at 3:00 and 4:00 pm.
