This week in the Glass Foyer at St Peter’s Church there is an exhibition called SABIR – Time, Tea and Textiles, by Matilda Velevitch and Kate Dunn, in collaboration with Counterpoints Arts, Harrogate District of Sanctuary, The Cone Exchange and Bettys & Taylors. This exhibition was especially created for Refugee Week 2022, showcasing artwork made by recently arrived refugees and local residents in Harrogate. Memory maps were made using tea dyed linen and papers, various threads and inks. Their textile work and personal stories have been curated into hanging tapestries, and combined with work from Harrogate District of Sanctuary workshop pieces. Don't miss this.
