Celebrating Harvest

Christian Aid Season for Change Appeal.

Through the generosity of many in the St Peter’s congregation and others around the town, we have the food we need for our Breakfast Club, Food Parcels, Supermarket and Sunday Lunch Club. So, as we specifically celebrate Harvest this year, we have an opportunity to give thanks to God for all his goodness in a way that benefits those in desperate need further afield. On Sunday 6th October there will be an opportunity to support Christian Aid’s 2019 Harvest Appeal.
Kasthuri, pictured here with her son Mathi, was born into India's Dalit community – the lowest of the low in the Hindu caste system. She's faced prejudice all her life: she has no rights, no security, no voice. When she was ostracised by her family for marrying against their will, and later abandoned by her husband, she was excluded even from her own community. Now Kasthuri has joined a women's farming collective growing organic vegetables, herbs and flowers to sell. They are supported by Christian Aid – whose local partner provides training in organic farming methods, seeds and help with getting the crops to market. The project is her lifeline – her chance to keep Mathi in school and offer him a better life.
Will you support people like Kasthuri around the world, as they build a future for themselves? Come and find out more about the work of Christian Aid at our Harvest Services this Sunday.
