Please pray for all our new deacons

Posted on Thursday, June 21st, 2018

Eighteen men and women enter ordained ministry as deacons at two services in Ripon Cathedral on Saturday 30th June led by the Bishop of Leeds, Nick Baines.  Alongside our new Curate, Chris Clayton, two others from the Ripon Episcopal area will be ordained at the 11:00 am service – Tony Carlton, who will serve at Skipton with Carleton and Kim Mason, who will be the Assistant Curate at St Mark’s Harrogate.  On Sunday 1st July we are holding a Parish Lunch to welcome our new curate, Chris Clayton, and his family to St Peter’s Church. This will be a buffet lunch in Church at 1:00 pm after Choral Communion.

Vicar Launches Organ Appeal

Posted on Thursday, June 21st, 2018

All is not well with our church organ, the problem must be dealt with before the coming winter – because cold, dry weather causes the mechanism in question to seize up.  The cost of this particular repair is £5,000 and other, less urgent, repairs are also in the offing.
To help us reach this this target there will be an organ recital with John Longstaff, our Director of Music, playing familiar and well-loved organ music on the afternoon of Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August at 2:30 pm.  The ticket price, to include a traditional cream tea served afterwards, is £10.

Thank you to all our St Peter’s house to house collectors who gave their time,
commitment and energy during Christian Aid Week last month to raise funds for
Christian Aid’s work in Haiti. They collected £971.91. Well done!
Thank you, too, to all those who gave so generously in Church on the 20th May.
That collection amounted to £258.18, which means the grand total raised is
£1,230.09. Thank you St Peter’s!
God’s Kingdom is certainly stronger than storms!

St Peter’s Breakfast Club receives £200 from ASDA

Posted on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018

On Monday Asda invited Breakfast Club’s Hannah Beck and her deputy, Steve Gibb, to the store to receive a cheque for £200 from their Green Token Giving Programme.  Angela Smith, the Community Champion at the Harrogate store, put our name forward and has organised this rather splendid trolley to collect food donations for us.  She also volunteers at St Peter’s every Thursday, helping to prepare and distribute the food parcels.  First place went to Happy Wanderers Ambulance Organisation, who provide transport for older and disabled people, and Bob Blackburn collected their cheque for £500.  A big thank you to everyone who collected the tokens and voted for us and, of course, to Asda, but especially Angela.
