Giving
“All things come from you and of your own do we give you.”
Whatever we give – be it in time or money – we do so in response to God’s great gift of himself to us – all we have comes from Him. Giving means taking responsibility for maintaining and developing Christian life at St Peter’s and in the wider world.
The biggest single expense for St Peter’s is the Parish Share, which is used by the diocese to pay the clergy and also to help those churches in very deprived areas as well as those in rural locations with small congregations and beautiful old churches to maintain. As a thriving church we have a responsibility for helping our “church neighbours”. If we do not pay our way there will be fewer clergy and as a result churches may have to close.
In the past we have been able to meet our financial commitments, but only with the help of legacies or exceptional donations. As our congregation continues to grow, so too will our Parish Share.
Planned Giving, with the tax recovered from Gift Aid, makes up the largest part of our income and is the best way to help St Peter’s budget for the future. There are two ways in which you can do this:
• by a Standing Order to your bank
• by using the Planned Giving envelopes
